ADVANTAGES OF LIVING IN HARTSDALE


Living in Hartsdale offers you a diversity of housing including coops, condominiums, and single family housing; as well as a diverse choice of restaurants right in the small downtown area near the Train Station and along Central Avenue.


What are the advantages of living here?


The Metro North train takes only 34 minutes on the express train during rush hours.  You always get a seat and there is still available parking in the commuter parking lots.


The B-line bus also connects many of the single family home subdivisions to the Hartsdale Train Station.  Also, it runs the length of Central Avenue up to White Plains and down through Yonkers for additional transportation support.


Coops range in price for a one bedroom starting at $94,000 up to a few 3 bedrooms that price in the $290,000 range.


Condos can range from $227,000 for a one bedroom up to a few 3 bedrooms in the $700-$800,000 range.  


Single Family homes right now range from $399,000 for a small 3 bedroom up to $1,275,000 for a large home in Hartsdale Acres with 1+ acres of land. Most homes average $500-$600,000

For a small downtown area, Hartsdale offers a wide range of restaurants for those without a car and living in the coops that line the street from the Train Station up to Central Avenue.


There are a variety of restaurants that line E. Hartsdale Avenue in Hartsdale: There is a Mexican restaurant called Vega Mexican, Bosphorus Turkish Restaurant, a small Indian take out or sit down Cafe called Masala, Harrys of Hartsdale, Frankie and Fanucci,  

Hunan Village II, 2 bagel stores, another pizza take out and a good bakery called Enrico's! My favorite is Peachwave Yogurt that has really become a popular stop for everyone almost every night of the week in summer!  In addition to the downtown restaurants, you have many along Central Avenue to choose from.


Downtown Hartsdale also offers a New York Sport Club, 2 nail salons and several hair salons.  Rite Aid is right on the corner.  Along E. Hartsdale Avenue on the ground floor of many of the coops, you can also find numerous doctor and dentists if you do not have a car!


Outside of downtown Hartsdale, there are different condo and coop communities that line Central Avenue in Hartsdale.  There are also several sub-divisions of single family homes. The closest is Upper and Lower Manor Woods, with mainly charming older homes. You also have a choice of  College Corners, Windsor Park, Poets Corners which have mid-range priced homes up to areas off of Ridge/Sprain Road including Hartsdale Acres that are moderately higher due to larger property size (average .75-1 acre lots).


After living in New York City for 17 years and exploring places to live in Westchester County, I found Hartsdale had that small town feeling but close enough to the city for me to commute when I was running a business that took up to 60 hours of my week!  It also had available parking at the train which many other stations did not! I’ve lived here 19 years in two different houses!
