As many of you have noticed, construction of three apartment units has been going up on Saw Mill River Road across from Macy Park. This is where the old Waterwheel site has been empty since it burned down in the 1990’s. At that time the property foreclosed, and the town took it over and sold it for affordable housing. Currently two of the three buildings are near completion with the third in the works. It is anticipated it should be totally complete spring 2015. When completed there will be 22 units. From what I’ve read, 17 will be affordable housing and 5 will be workforce housing (those designated to essential workers of the town). In this case firefighters. The apartments will be issued by a lottery. For more information on affordable housing and how to get on the list, either here in Ardsley or in other parts of Westchester, visit: http://homes.westchestergov.com/homeseeker-opportunities
These will be issued by Westchester County Planning and after applications are filled out, a lottery will decide who will move in.
The White Plains Affordable Housing site has a chart of HUD 2014 approved salary requirements and costs for rentals. It also has a link to affordable housing in White Plains and a link to their application.
