There are many buyers out there hunting and a few a frustrated with the inventory. Many have already seen everything in their budget in areas they prefers.
With February coming to an end in a few days now is the time to start getting your home ready.
Coming up with a game plan is key. Over the next day or two put some thought into what your home needs. Hire an home organizer, ask a home stager for a consultation, and/or start cleaning. You could also make a list of things to do, things to throw away to declutter or place belongings in storage and so forth. There is plenty to do.
Keep in mind a messy, dirty, untidy home will cause buyers to notice every flaw. Don't let that happen to you. It could cost you hundreds and thousands of dollars.
Start now. Don't wait. Get ahead of your competition. In fact study the current market by asking a real estate agent to swing by and go over the market. Educate yourself. Prepare yourself.
The good thing for sellers in Westchester County is that the market is improving. And more and more people and moving to the area. In fact, between 2013 and 2014 the difference in population, according to the United States Census Bureau, between the years was an increase of about 50,500 people.
8. Attic/Basement: Even if your attic or basement is unfinished you need to pay attention to these areas.
ex. place humidifier if needed, paint walls, tidy up and organize, paint concrete floors a neutral color
9. Heating and Cooling Area: This is another area that sellers don't tend too and an area that they should.
ex. label equipment to give idea of hold old things are (i.e. hot water heater, boiler systems, etc)
10. Garage/Shed: This is another important point that can make or break a deal.
ex. sweep and power wash, organize, put tools up, place items on shelves
And as you can imagine this list is just the beginning of what it will take to get your home ready and stand out against your competition. Careful planning and prepping is key. You need to make your home sparkle by scrutinizing every aspect of your home because that is what buyers will do. It is going to take a lot of work to declutter, clean, depersonalize, rearranging, remedying problems and so forth.
