Although we’ve had an influx of bigger chains like Shop Rite on Central Avenue and large specialty stores like H Mart, I still do all of my shopping at DeCicco’s in Ardsley.
Why? First I truly value old fashioned personal attention that a smaller chain offers.More importantly, the selection you get at DeCicco’s outways those of the larger stores.
For Memorial Day weekend, the meat department has a fun way to entertain. They now have a variety of sliders including brisket hamburgers and short rib hamburgers in addition to other selections of bison burgers and kobe burgers! The also have organic brands like Applegate hot dogs and a selection of different types of sausages behind the counter. Since we are having company on Sunday, we tried their sliders last night, and I have to say the brisket slider came in 1st! Their Bone In Shell Steaks far outweigh even the Naked Beef ones at Stew Leonards!
Fish Department. I’m not a big fish person, so I am really fussy when buying fish. We have Arctic Char once a week at home (broiled with just some olive oil, thyme, garlic and pepper on lower shelf for 10 minutes). This a combo salmon/trout that has a milder taste. Cod Fish and Halibet are also two of my other favorites. Now, if you want a treat, getting lobsters at DeCicco’s is place to go. If you want large ones you can order them in advance. Every New Years for last 3 years, we’ve ordered 2 ½ - 3 lb lobsters for the steamer! Of course, can also throw some on the grill..but over 2 lbs call in advance.
They always have fresh fruit bowls that I bring to my friends barbecues and have a wide assortment of deli/appetizers that they are always happy to make a platter out of!
CHECK OUT their LOCAL FOOD FAIR at their Brewster location June 2nd and that site for all of their other locations.
