Homes in Hartsdale:
Hartsdale also has a range of individual neighborhoods that run the gamut from smaller homes in some of the older communities like College Corners, Manor Woods and Windsor Park that are actually walking distance to town and Central Avenue, to more outlying areas like Poets Corner off of Secor Road (where you have one of two original farms from the 1800's), and neighborhoods off of Ridge/Sprain Road that have larger properties and are surrounded by protected preserves and parks. Hartsdale Acres had a minimum 3/4 acre lot required originally and has homes ranging from a 1760 farmhouse (that I can see from my home office window) to newer homes where individuals bought two lots from people who were retiring and selling part of their properties and putting up 7000 square foot house
Some interesting facts about Hartsdale:
Hartsdale has the first pet cemetery in America and the first Carvel that unfortunately closed in 2008. But, perhaps people don't realize that "ghosts" of Hollywood past are also buried right here in Ferncliff Cemetery. Our neighbors there include Ed Sullivan, Christopher Reeve, Judy Garland, Basil Rathbone, Oscar Hammerstein, Joan Crawford among others. John Lennon was cremated there.
