Pelham is another great place in Westchester to call home and its justabout 10 minutes from where I live. So again I am pretty familiar with this areaas well.
Pelham is a quaint little village located in Westchester’ssouth end along the Long Island Sound and is Westchester’s oldest city. Itborders New Rochelle, Mount Vernon and Eastchester. And regardless of which place you visit youwill be pleased because it is a very walkable village.
There are 2 villages that make up Pelham today. They are theVillages of Pelham and Pelham Manor. And Pelham is just north of New York City’s borough…The Bronx. It is less than 20miles away from New York City. And it borders New Rochelle, Eastchester andMount Vernon.
Thanks to MetroNorth (the New Haven Line) commuter can travel to Grand Central in under 45minutes and sometimes faster depending on the train taken (28 minutes or so tothe city via Metro North is possible). But for those who prefer driving thetrip can be quick too. 29 minutes to Grand Central with no traffic (whichhappens depending on the time of day traveling into the city).
And depending on which village you are in you’ll either findretail shops such as Petsmart, BJ’s Wholesale Club, Fairway Grocery Store,Marshalls, and so forth or you could go to the Village of Pelham and find manyfamily owned shops, cute restaurants and a few household shops such as Accentson Antiques, Chelsea’s Grill, Pelham Café, Pelham Pet Shop, Caruso Paint andHardware and even the town local theater. Oh and this is where you will findthe Pelham Train Station (off Wolfs LN/5th Ave).
As mentioned earlier Pelham is a small village. In fact, it is has (Ibelieve) between 3-4 square miles (and the Village of Pelham has just under 1square mile). And to put this into perspective, Westchesterhas about 450 square miles.
So there you have...Pelham in a nutshell. So what do you think...Is Pelham, NY the right town for you?
