I had lunch at one of the outdoor tables at Sammy's Downtown in Bronxville, NY, Wednesday. My friend and I sat under an umbrella and enjoyed the beautiful weather. There are also many tables inside. Our service was great and we thoroughly enjoyed the buffalo mozzarella appetizer. I had the Veal Samantha and recommend it highly. My friend and neighbor had the shortrib stuffed ravioli, also a treat but a heavier dish. We were only satisfied with the desert however. My peach and blueberry cobbler, was not what I know to be a cobble. The fruit was ok but not excellent and this being peach season, I expected better, more and tastier fruit. The cheesecake my friend had was good but not exceptional either. One of the nicest things we encountered was the friendliness of all the passerbys. So many people stopped to chat or pass pleasant comments as they went about their routines. I have found that Bronxville is a very friendly community over all with great restaurant choices. It has the small town feel with the big city choices. If you haven't been there, it is a great place to visit and take a downtown walk. Explore the shops and restaurants and you will surely be pleased.
