Thoughts about celebrating Valentines Day in Westchester County

Here are my Thoughts about Valentines Day gifts.  Why do restaurants, events, websites all seem to have “special” menus, or events, or gifts tailored towards Valentines day, usually with “higher” price tags?
Isn’t Valentines Day supposed to be more of a “low stress” holiday where you just celebrate with that one other special person, rather than fret over what gifts to buy like Christmas, or what restaurant has the “best” special like New Years where you get less of a choice of entree’s at a higher price tag?
Here are just two examples in Westchester County:
Westchester Broadway Theater has “In the Heights” playing (but mainly sold out) on all days but Valentines day at $59/person. On Valentines Day they are offering a “lesser” show of the Piano Men singing Billy Joel and Elton John for $85/person (not sold out). If you go on Open Table to book a restaurant, there is a Valentines Day section with 41 restaurants all offering “special” Valentines Day menus.  You know what that means.

Then, you have the standard gifts like flowers, candy, jewelry. If you go online you have everything from M&M”s where you can personalize your candy, to the Personalization Mall where you can actually personalize boxer shorts, the, of course, Tiffany’s which is a destination point to those who expect the “best”.

Now, in scouting out the internet, I found one blog that I thought was the “ideal” gift after our recent storm and a woman’s perspective after my own heart!

Now you would think since my husband and I met on Valentines weekend 26 years ago, that we may go out on the town to celebrate. But, no. Since I am not a candy person, and flowers make me sneeze (besides not wanting my cats to get to them), we celebrate with a touch of “red” at home:
* A good bottle of Red Wine
* A 2 lbs Red Lobster
* Chocolate covered Red Strawberries!

That does it for us!  Wishing you all someone to celebrate with in your own fashion.

And, if you have that special someone that you want to find a house for (nice big gift!), don’t forget to call or txt me.
