Westchester County has a wealth of parks, activities and events for public enjoyment. The county has a well developed recreation system. One of the things that people enjoy is the Bicycle Sunday events where the Bronx River Parkway is closed down for wonderful family cycling. Get on and off where you wish, take it slow, take the family or bike like speed racer, it is up to you. A great prelude to a wonderful sunday brunch at one of our many restaurants along the way.
Bicycle Sundays will not outdo the county's cultural heritage festivals though. Take a trip to Kensico Dam Plaza in Valhalla and you can be transported to another culture. There are festivals that celebrate some of the many countries and cultures that are present in our county. You can be Irish, Polish, Indian or any number of other cultures for the day. It is a great way to try some new food or old favorites and experience the music and culture of others, right in our own back yard. This is the schedule for the festivals. Westchester County also has a fitness program available through "Be Fit One Day at a Time" You can participate in a county sponsored boot camp for varying abilities at a nominal cost. One of the nicest things about Westchester County Parks is the County Park Pass. As a resident of Westchester County you are entitled to purchase a parks pass good for three years for only $60. If you are a senior or disabled it is good for 6 years!! This entitles you to 18,000 acres of parkland and 50 plus recreational areas. -the six all-weather tennis courts at Tibbetts Brook Park in Yonkers.
