I happen to live in New Rochelle, which boarders Larchmont to the west. I know Larchmont pretty well. That is where I go for a nice hot chocolate (Starbucks off Palmer) when I want to get in my car and go somewhere. I also get my pet supplies in Larchmont too (Petco off Boston Post Road). There are also a few nice shopping stores like Ann Taylor and The Gap. Plus there are a few nice boutiques such as Pink on Palmer.
Oh and dining in Larchmont is wonderful too. I love places like Coriander off Larchmont AVE and Polpettina also off Larchmont. But don't get me wrong there are more restaurants scattered all over Larchmont. There are plenty of places to try.
This is truly a special village. Though Larchmont is often times called the "Tree City USA". Larchmont is a village located in the town of Mamaroneck.
It is located about 18 miles from New York City and driving there on a good day it would probably take you 40 minutes (well depending on where in the city you want to go...I am thinking of the Flatiron District).
Larchmont also has a few parks including Memorial Park which is located off Chatsworth AVE and Mrytle AVE. And there is Vanderburgh "Turtle" Park off Palmer Ave and Flint Park (where a permit is required). But there are many other parks here. Those mentioned are just a couple.
Oh and lets not forget the Larchmont Train Station conveniently placed steps from the towns shops and eateries off Palmer AVE.
