With COVID-19 wreaking havoc on our lifestyle and peace-of-mind, it has been a most challenging spring. I am so impressed with communities pulling together to help one another. New Yorkers are a resilient group. The residents of Westchester and Putnam counties have been strong and doing their best to maintain a normal, healthy lifestyle while being safe and staying at home when they are able. We are all so grateful to the essential workers and we, as a group, seem to have developed a better appreciation for those who may have been overlooked in the past.
How has COVID-19 Effected the Housing Market?
I would say that the most obvious item is that there are fewer homes on the market. Sellers may not want people in their homes or may not realize that deals are able to be done. The spring market is usually flooded with homes for sale by now. COVID-19 has slowed down the inventory even though homes are able to be listed on the market. Those that are on the market are being sold. For my clients who want to sell, I am able to meet with them via video-conference and discuss recent market activity and the value of their home. Buyers are out there looking! There are a lot of buyers who have time on their hands and are searching on their computers, speaking with agents and making inquiries. Some are even venturing out and viewing homes when the seller permits. Mortgage companies are working. The attorneys are working. Deals are getting done.
