Property Virgin episode features Westchester and Putnam Valley

If you are a fan of my Facebook business page you would know that we finally made the cut for one of these HGTV real estate shows.  A new episode of Property Virgins aired this evening and it took place in my home town of Putnam Valley, NY.  The showed featured a 25 year old teacher from Putnam Valley who was looking for a new home.  She looked at townhouses in Cortlandt Manor, Carmel and Putnam Valley.  She ended up choosing the townhouse in Putnam Valley.  It was pretty cool to be able to recognize many of the scenes in one of these nationally televised shows.  I learned that this episode was going to air this afternoon and posted it on Facebook this evening.  I had quite a few responses and many friends ended up watching it.

As for the show itself, it was quite a disappointment.  I have been watching Property Virgins for quite some time now.  I hate to be so critical, but this new host is terrible.  Let me be frank, she blows.   The previous host, Sandra, was more entertaining.  She also seemed to know much more about the real estate business.  The chosen house turned out to be bank owned.  The host was going on and on about how you can’t negotiate with a bank and 80% of the time they don’t even respond to your offer.   She did let the girl know that she thought their initial offer was too low.  She was correct about that but didn’t explain to her the importance of placing a more competitive offer.   The way she was carrying on, you would think it was a short sale as opposed to an REO.

I posted on Facebook that this was a great example of why a buyer should use a reputable real estate agent when purchasing a home.  Of course I threw in a plug as well.  If anyone knows about buying an REO in Putnam Valley, it’s me.  I purchased my home in Putnam Valley last year.  It also was bank owned.
